My Critics motivate me to recover!

10-05-08
My book “The Script- ACURE for Addiction is the product of my first brain surgery in 1999. My rehab was very questionable because the brain damage I had sustained from my illness Hydrocephalus was severe. My wife was told that I would recover 80-90% of my memory in the first 6-12 months. As a therapist my mental ability was the sum total of my trade.
I began to journal feverishly capturing every principle, idea and technique I could recall. I had deficits which could only be resolved through investigation and study. That was my kind of work! My primary neurosurgeon was Dr. Dyhnit of the Bumrungran International Hospital in Bangkok Thialand. Dr. Dyhnit taught me a therapy technique we was developing called “Neuro Stimulus Therapy”
This requires the patient to recite memory information while performing mathematical computation. I still don’t understand the process except that it strengthens the cortex which was most damaged in my case. It was experimental by his discription. Was it successful? I have written one book and two professional manuals thus far and my clinical practice has great promise.
Dr. Carl Rogers the author of “Client Centered Therapy” And Dr. William Glasser, author of “Reality Therapy" provided me with a great deal of professional knowledge which benefits my clients today. I am eternally grateful for their tutoring through their writings and I hope this explains to my critics the basis for my work.
Never the less, recovery through therapy, medicine, religion, the arts or what ever motivates our clients to recover, I wish you Gods speed! One day at a time.

 How to beat the system!’

Anyone who has allowed themselves to be involved with the "CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM!" has a very tough challenge ahead of them! You must obey the law! Follow their rules! Stay sober and make the best of your situation. Stay clean and do not associate with the outlaws who were your "friends or associates?
The goal is to get out of the system as quickly as possible. Early release is possible when you follow their rules! You may still have to pay the probation/parole fee? but you will not be required to tolerate their intrusion into your life any longer!
It is about earning your credibility in society. We must prove to them and our selves that we can be responsible citizens who do not require theor supervision> Taking good care of your business, paying your bills, behaving in a way that is socially appropriate and progressive.
Achieve your goals, accomplish more than anyone expects and your reward will be self confidence, respect and freedom!

Good Health and be Blest!

 Step one of CSP recovery

09-02-08
A technique of therapy is to “Journal” You write down your feelings and experiences so that you can see them in another light. A third party style of analysis. In recovery from addiction we are encouraged to think before we act. “ Doing things the way we did caused consequences.” When we do our first step we identify the consequences of our addiction. We examine our choices and relationships with a critical eye. Evaluating the results and asking the question,” Would I have done that, made that choice, gone there, called them etceter. When we answer those questions and judge the results we are better able to decide,”Am I powerless over my addiction?”
Decide for sobriety, or the suffering will continue! Your choice! No one forces you to use or drink, your choice.
Read, “The Script- ACURE for Addiction” page for page. Read the first 180 pages of the AA Big Book! New information produces new behaviors. Live sober-Live free!

 Successful treatment you can prove!

The first word in the AA program is "we." Joining a recovery program is a decision you make..
We admitted? What did we admit? We were powerless? Powerless over what?

The answer to this question sets you up for recovery! What is it in your life that you have no control over? Write it down! The motivation for recovery may not be entirely known now.

What you do know is that you "Hurt!" To recover is a process. We did not get here over night, we will not get better over night! It is a process. Join in the process! Write down the answers to these questions and you can "prove your rehab" to who ever is in authority over you!

It is a process called recovery. Treatment is subjecting yourself to new information which has the purpose of producing sobriety in your life. We never quit being addicted. We can stop" using! Successfully recover, one day at a time!

Mr. T is alive! AMEN! (Relapse)

Months ago I lost track of a friend who through relapse and divorce became a danger to himself and the community. Addiction is a deadly disease. When we practice our disease (it isn’t like we aren’t good at it already!) the end result can be “JAILS, INSTITUTIONS AND EARLY DEATH!’’ JUST LIKE IT SAYS IN THE AA Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. See AA attribution disclaimer on pg 29 in “your script.”

Step one, We admitted we were powerless- has to occur before we benefit from all the time others are providing to us. As counselors we must realize that we can not work at your recovery harder than you do. The “helpers” are not the ones who need to get sober! (At least we hope not?)
The “one day at a time concept” (brilliant) teaches that we can do anything today that if we thought we had to do for a lifetime, we would just give up! Just for today we can call our mentors (sponsors) go to meetings, read the books and pour coffee at meetings! Get involved up to your ears in recovery activities! Dive right in! We enjoy the efforts and appreciate the help you are to us who are closer to a drink just because it has been so long since our last one! The suffering from the “relapse” of our member reminds us why we stopped using to start our own recoveries.
Hang in there Mr. T!!
I am on your board of directors!

Alcohol is a depressant drug which is addictive.
Be aware. If you partake, you are at risk! The reality can be quite regrettable!
Worth the risk? If you drink, you are culpable.
