Probably! Better safe than sorry! Trust but verify is the word! In early recovery it is very difficult for the addict to know what the truth is? Self deception has occurred for so long that confusion is the rule. It takes a lot of debriefing through meetings allowing for reality to come into the addicts mind. Deception does occur deliberately! Be cautious! Take risks to help! We must try to help or the addict may die! Consult with your sponsor regarding your choices to help the addict or bear the consequences be they good or bad! Better safe than sorry is a wise adage, ask your sponsor! Good Health and Be Blessed! Thanks for responding to this mail. I am a retired addiction expert. Retired means I am not in "business" anymore. The work I do now is ministry but I don't preach! A Judge told me not long ago that I could not preach to my clients! I responded, I only preach "obey the law!" Problem with that Judge? He giggled at me! We have had many, many clients over the last 20 years.

What is this thing? Addiction? When you learn all the answers and change your life to the point that alll is well, life gets to be dull! What to do then? AAAHHH!! Work with others that dont have it all figured out yet. These old timers are such a crew? I was called an oldtimer recently. What? Old? After 22 years of clean time 2 books on the subject and 13000 clients in 3 countries? Whats next? Let me know if you have any ideas?

Successfully diverting the state corrections system so that one last "stab" can occur at sobriety.
My client, R.L. and I appeared at court last week where sentencing was to occur in his case. His probation officer was left with little choice but to recommend 120 day shock treatment in the Department of Corrections. With my special treatment plan and 20 years of experience, I petitioned the court to allow my client a final opportunity to "get straight!" The judge heard my arguments and the plan? The decision was made to rely on my judgment of recovery requirements and the case was over.
My client left with me that day to begin a program of recovery that you can not purchase! Plan your work, work your plan. One day at a time! AA has the most successful long term recovery plan available today. My prayer is that R.L. grabs a hold of the program is begins to live his life free of addiction!
