 Adolescent Addiction

At an intervention this week with a seventeen year young male client, the mother was invested in teaching her husband how his drinking had affected their son. Her codependent “love at all cost” attitude, did nothing to determine this young mans deviant behavior!
This is wrong in so many paradigms. The communication skills my young client possessed were underdeveloped due to his substance abusing behaviors. He has never learned to process his cognitive behaviors in the paradigm of “right or wrong!” He was quick to blame his lack of knowledge on his parents inability to teach him healthy living behaviors.
This “projection” (blame damage!) caused the reaction within the family unit of “conflict” which allowed him to escape culpability for his criminally addictive behaviors! When sobriety was recommended and contracts made, to abstain from chemical use, attend self help meetings and continue therapy, hope was created that improved relationships were possible! It is a process! Be patient! Do the work! Read, The Script ACURE for Addiction page 172 and the AA Big Book page 58, 59 and 60.

 Arrested Again!

You can’t help someone who doesn’t want help!
YES YOU CAN! Acure for Addiction, pg 80

A client faces revocation of parole for getting arrested while drinking. They have had all the government treatment programs, inside prison and out! It is amazing to me how this relapse trigger was not recognized prior to this relapse? ( Addicts would never lie, would they?)
He does not think he is addicted! His definition of what an alcoholic is does not describe him! We must help him draw a new picture which includes him. The reality is that anyone can deny that they are addicted regardless of the evidence they receive, if they want to!
“ Shot is shot!” Drinking, using drugs, all effect the brain! Addiction is addiction! Choice of poison does not make it less poisonous! Good Health and Be Blesst!( acureforaddiction.com ) (Howard Denny CASAC RET)

 5-15-08 Successful Treatment

05-15-08
Mr. E. D. completed his therapy today and made excellent progress. He has been clean and sober since February 2008 and reports his treatment has been the best thing that has ever happened for him. He admits his addiction has caused him much “LLS” i.e. “Lost life Syndrome!”
LLS is the period of time we have spent in our addiction, using, being high and intoxicated and the time seeking and preparing the chemicals for ingestion. The ritual of abuse is almost as addictive as the drugs themselves. The process is habit forming and the experience is greatly anticipated.
When we decide or are compelled to stop the ritual, it is very difficult and we may fail at several attempts. Keep trying! Don’t give up! Go To AA, Na, treatment, volunteer at recovery centers, get a sponsor, go to any length to stay sober! Read the Script-ACURE for Addiction, the AA Big Book, follow directions! We know how to be successful!

Loss of family caused by addiction

This is a message to a spouse regarding their loss of family due to addiction. I pray this example gives all who read it resolve to recover!

NOTE:
If I thought there was one thing to be done differently I would say so. I do not. Recovery is a choice and it is truly (ODAT) "one day at a time!"
If or when he surfaces again (if he is sober?) encourage him to call me. I would love to be a help for him. In the words of "One armed Jack" If I had a microphone I would dial it up to about a volume 9, Jack would holler at the white chip takers, "YOU GOTTA WANNIT! YOU GOTTA WANNA BE SOBER! YOU GOTTA WANNIT! That passion must continue daily in our lives if we are to continue our lives in recovery.
We pray for the ones we loose no matter what the cause. JESUS suffered and died so we could live. I feel the same way about the suffering we have in our lives as it is a teaching tool for those we will help!Good Health and Be Blessed! You are so special and I am PROUD OF YOU! den!  HOW TO BEAT THE SYSTEM, GUARANTEED!!!

"HOW TO BEAT THE SYSTEM,GUARENTEED"

05-11-08
“How to beat the system?
” !!!!Get out and stay out!!!
Guaranteed to work every time!
Easier said than done!
Not really.
The correct way to live requires each of us to make ethical decisions daily regarding our behaviors. We don’t always make the correct choices so we have step 10 of the self help programs. AA big Book Vol. 3, page 59, Volume 4, page???, look it up for practice!
When we obey the law there is no reason for the legal system to be involved in our lives. I.E. “beat the system!” When you are not involved in criminal behavior, you win! Don’t associate with those who are. We must change our relationships by developing new ones! “We may feel challenged here! We all are! Join the club!
” Go to A.A. and N.A. and other community organizations. Go back to church or go for the first time. People want to help you! Let them, but be responsible! No free lunch in life! Pay your own way. Respect yourself! Get out of your house and live like others. You will be glad you did, eventually!
NOTE:
Alcohol is a depressant drug which is addictive.
Be aware. If you partake, you are at risk! The reality can be quite regrettable!
Worth the risk? If you drink, you are culpable.
