Clean and sober holiday! What a hoot!!

12-25-05
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!
Remembering Christmas as a child was a traumatic event for many years. Anytime “the family” was in one spot at the same time, anger, resentment, fear and a dose of booze ( six gallons more or less) guaranteed “near bloodshed!” Holidays were always attempted in our family because it seemed “the right thing to do.” The main problem with the picture was that all of the adults with the exception of 2 sisters were practicing alcoholics! STARTING TO SEE A PATTERN?
The kids all learned to eat quick and get out of the way! We would stay outside until the horns started honking, “the signal we were about to get left!” Occasionally, one of us did get left. Ahhhh! the cuts, burns and bruises of childhood! Thank goodness we survived it, well, those in my family anyway!
Thank you for the responses and comments to my blog. I just want to help those in need. Learning to be sober is a job which not only is possible but enjoyable and profitable. My sweet wife Pamela and I have had over 70 foster children. None of these children could have known the love and provision received had I not chosen to get sober almost 22 years ago. Recovering from addiction is really a selfishly motivated decision. I did not want to suffer like my folks and grandparents did! Addiction has killed 3 out of 4 of them so far!
I retired from business after learning how to be successful. Drinking and using illegal drugs kept me dirt poor the first 30 years of my life. Once I learned through recovery how to deprive myself and develop wealth, my excessive behavior turned to the new goal, prosperity! I had to learn new information and how to apply it. Hard work, you bet! Worth every second too! I feel like a million!!!
God bless you this holiday, Mr. Denny

Is there acure for addiction? Yes, yes there is!!!

12-23-05
I have the greatest respect for the scientific community. The idea that there is acure for addiction threatens billions if not trillions of dollars in government spending resulting from alcohol and other drug abuse. You see, alcohol is one of, if not, the oldest drug in the world. Civilizations have dealt with the inebriate and their consequences forever.
Is acure for addiction for sale? If I offered it for sale I would be labeled a conman. If I were to hint that it would be sold to the highest bidder on e-bay or Sotheby’s Auction House I may well be assassinated or arrested, besides the cost would be far more than the normal person could conceive of possessing.
So, what is a man to do? I plan to talk about it until I decide on a direction to take. I would be interested in your suggestions if you could comment? I will keep every one informed as information becomes available to me. Stay safe this holiday season.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU!! Blog On!! Mr. Denny

 I need some help!

I have come to the conclusion that I don't know the purpose of a blog? When I first began I thought it would be one way to continue connecting with those that I could assist in recovery from addictions. ( I am a retired professional, and yes, I have been out of the country for a few short years!)I began by responding to posts with suggestions and thoughts which could be beneficial to consider. " No good deed goes unpunished!" For my efforts I have been cursed, called names and told to get lost!( No harm done, my armor is thick as a rhino's) By now I am thinkin 'i must not understand the function of blogging?' Sooo! I have my hat in my hand asking kindly for direction if anyone could have pity and give me "A CLUE!?" Obviously, I don't have one! ha! Thank You and Merry Christmas!

Creating wealth in sobriety, how do we catch up?

If you think wealth is a million of something, dollars, pounds sterling, rubles, gold, silver or oil, I suppose you could measure wealth that way. I did in the beginning! I just wanted a job, food and a place to sleep everyday. I was not an under the bridge alcoholic! Yet anyway!ha
Learning to deprive yourself of the petty passions associated with our excessive abuse of alcohol and other chemicals is the beginning of achieving wealth. If you do not spend every dime you have on "stuff" you have extra funds to invest. No I have nothing to sell but the reality of our addictions is evidence that we can be an industrious group.
I began by saving my change in a quart jar. I never spent my change because it went into the jar everyday. At the end of the week if I was low on funds i could spend a couple of bucks in quarters. I learned that the money spent on "junk, soda, candy, and the rest, added up in a months time.
I wise man told me never to work less than half a day, each day! He explained that 8am-8pm was in fact, half a day! He placed responsibility for my success on my shoulders, taught me to deprive myself of petty passions and live by the traditions and steps of the AA program. Tradition no. 7 "Every AA group ought to be fully self supporting, declining outside contributions." As a member of the program I adopted the suggestions as literally as I could. I was retired by age 43 and have traveled to many countries since my retirement. The AA program simply works for all areas of your life. Blog on,www.acureforaddiction.com Blessings, Mr. Denny
