Sir Carl talks about the family disease of alcoholism...

Sir Carl, well said. I once attended a meeting where a young lady remarked "I just want to be comfortable in my own skin." She seemed so sad that day. Having lost my parents to the disease I relate directly to the craving of comfort in "my own skin." The AA program has given me many tools to work with and a board of directors who have the experience to "make it happen" for me! Staying sober O.D.A.T. "one day at a time" attending meetings, seeking instruction, attending events, meals, celebrations and all manner of other community programs have provided me and my wife Pamela with a life we couldn't even dream of before the program. Your program will teach volumes about recovery to your family. Have faith, pray and never miss an opportunity to live "your life large!" Good Health and Be Blessed!  Congruence in a quality recovery-priceless!

Congruence defined," What I think matches what I feel, which matches what I do!" Congruent behavior builds trust in relationships, employment, finances and faith! The basis of addiction is dishonesty. If we did not deceive ourselves and others we could not behave the way alcoholics and addicts behave and "get away with it!" When we begin to apply the principles of recovery such as "Don't drink!" "Go to meetings!" Get a sponsor!" We begin the process of accountability. We must keep our word or we will be confronted by these new associates. "Don't think, Don't drink, read the book and go to meetings! We learn to be truth tellers and accountable for our actions! Congruent! Trusting the process of recovery! If it worked for me, it can probably work for you also! I believe this to be true!

An alanon friend suffers from the disease

11-24-06
Carl, Carl, Carl, Carl, Carl! Such a place does exist but we can not get there from here! Only through conversion to another plane, spiritual, will we enjoy those blessings! Heaven, I'm in Heaven!! Really, I enjoy the imagination of those seeking a reality much improved from the one they deal with in "The daily trudge along!" Nirvana is a real place on earth and can be experienced sober while working the program. My program (AA)gives me many tools to apply moment by moment, day by day! Doing so allows me to live free of guilt, (almost) shame, sorrow, fear, anxiety and the other deadly sins the book talks about! My precious wife of 20 years was married 19 years to a medical drug addict (and is a certified 10th degree Black Belt Alanon!) I loath the day i took her to her first meeting!Ha Ha Ha! Kidding! Recovery is what we make it! We are responsible to do the work. God will add the increase. Detachment is a skill nearly impossible to apply 100% of the time. Recovery as I understand it has nothing to do with what I think or feel! My recovery is represented only by what I do! Action! Recovery is action! Go to meetings! Call your sponsor! Get on the answering service available 24/7/365! """Call me! Don't be afraid you can call me, don't hesitate, you can call me! Call me and I'll be around! This is an Old song lyrics with melody playing!" I hope you can hear it too! Now get to it! Good Health and Be Blessed! Mr. Denny Goodpenny www.acureforaddiction.com

Using denial to recover from addiction.

Denial is as much a part of recovery as acceptance of the addiction itself! If the questions were never posed about our use of substances we would never have the chance to say"Not Me!" "I don't have a problem!"
People do not wake up in the morning and say to themselves,"Today, I think I will allege that Mary or Bill has a drinking problem!" Something had to cause the observation to be made! When we deny that a problem exists we have already been identified as a potential liability for the organization. The goal must then be"hide and suffer in silence" or prove to them how wrong they are! Regardless of our decision the reaction will further confirm the reality of our plight!
Admit that reality is what it is and begin the process of recovery before further damage or even death can occur. I lost a man to prison last week! Denial of the problem is what kills us! Call it what it is and recover! The sooner the better! Good Health and Be Blessed!

Every addicts challenge," recover or suffer and die!"

Mr. E is "hung up" in the insanity of battling with a foe which pleasures in watching him suffer! Step one of recovery begins,"We admitted we were powerless....!" Defined, powerless means without control, unable to affect change!
Surrender is the only solution! Quit fighting against and with addiction! Get step 1! Powerless! Stop fighting! Get off the highway,(a bigger truck is coming!)Can't swim? STAY OUT OF THE WATER!!! Recovery is not rocket science! Some of us like to suffer in public because of the attention we get. Others of us believe we deserve the punishment? When we work this recovery program, we heal our injuries, control our choices(behaviors)and just for today live free of the destruction of addiction! (or not?) Choose recovery today, "act yourself into better thinking!" Live well today! Good Health and Be Blessed! Mr. Denny Goodpenny www.acureforaddiction.com
